What Is a Slot?

A thin opening or groove in something, such as a door, window, piece of wood or metal. Also: a position within a group, series, sequence or hierarchy; a place in a game.

The slot-based schedule allows teams to organize work events according to specific time periods, which helps support consistency and adherence to important deadlines. For example, team meetings with staff, client consultations and evaluation reviews can be scheduled for particular time slots to encourage open communication about availability and ensure that important projects remain on track.

A slot is a dynamic placeholder on the web page that either waits for content (passive slot) or calls out to a scenario with content to fill in the slot (active slot). Slots, along with scenarios and renderers, play an integral role in offer management. For more information about slots, see the Using Slots chapter of the ATG Personalization Programming Guide.
